Leadership and career development for the NHS.

Evidence-based ‘With Purpose’ approach designed for positive change — building agency, clarity and self-leadership in staff and leaders operating under sustained pressure and change.

Purpose Coaching & Development supports senior NHS leaders, Workforce and OD teams and staff networks to provide meaningful CPD in the context of change and ambiguity. Worked through 1:1 coaching, group coaching, team coaching, workshops and Train-the-Trainer.

The goal: empowered, accountable leaders who turn strategic and culture promises into tangible change that staff can actually feel.

This is not another wellbeing initiative layered onto an overloaded system. It is a practical, evidence-based body of work that helps people function more intentionally within the system they are working in.

  • Participants leave with replicable models and insights — not a slide deck they’ll close and forget. Each workshop is shaped to your cohort through a pre-workshop scoping conversation. Live, interactive, with peer reflection and practice built in.

    • Five workshop titles, each available as a 2-hour virtual session on MS Teams:

    • Career development and interview skills — so staff can drive their own careers, and you have a stronger internal candidate pool. Scalable across any band, speciality or staff network.

    • Lead with your strengths — practical tools for recognising and articulating what staff genuinely do well. Grounded in strengths-based approaches and evidenced for inclusive practice.

    • Accountability — frameworks for clear expectation-setting, delegation and leadership under pressure.

    • Presentation skills: messaging for momentum — so that words drive action, not side conversations.

    • Wellbeing and resilience — tools for sustainable performance at individual and team level.

All workshops are CPD accredited. Tailored for staff group, band or speciality. Extended session formats and in-person delivery available by arrangement.

From £1,250 per session  (single cohort, 2-hour virtual)

    Multi-cohort programme offers available.

  • A half-day, CPD-accredited Train-the-Trainer programme for internal NHS coaching networks. The programme equips qualified coaches with the methodology, frameworks and tools to deliver high-quality career and interview coaching within their own organisations — increasing access to specialist career coaching, improving the consistency of career conversations, and supporting equitable progression.

Designed to be replicable and scalable. Organisations leave with an embedded methodology and a cohort of trained coaches who can continue to build capability independently.

    • Equip internal NHS coaches with practical career coaching tools: career review, strengths elicitation, interview and presentation frameworks.

    • Embed a replicable methodology within your coaching network.

    • Improve the consistency and quality of career conversations across your Trust, ICB or system.

    • Support inclusion and equitable progression by widening access to specialist career coaching.

    From £1,200 per half-day cohort

Multi-cohort and volume offers available. Design fee may apply for first delivery to a new client.

  • Confidential coaching for senior NHS leaders, clinicians and professional staff navigating leadership challenge, career transition, or return from leave. Career and leadership are treated as one piece of work.

Each programme begins with a chemistry conversation and a scoping call. Sessions are scheduled at the outset — paced to maintain momentum without overloading an already full diary. Between sessions: a written summary with actions and reflective prompts, personalised tools and models, and on-demand WhatsApp support.

Virtual or in-person at Old Sessions House, Clerkenwell. CPD accredited.

    •      Senior leaders shaping change — so they lead it with intention and bring their teams with them.

    •      Leaders absorbing pressure through sustained change and constraint.

    •      Leaders at a career inflection point — stepping up, moving on, or recalibrating.

    •      Leaders returning from extended leave — so they come back with clarity, not anxiety.

    3-month programme:  £2,495

    6-month programme:  £4,250

    Monthly payment plans available.

  • For organisations developing a cohort of leaders rather than a single executive. A Leadership Development Programme combines individual 1:1 coaching with group coaching.  The confidential individual conversations build trust, recognise each leader’s context and goals, and the group coaching builds peer challenge, shared language and a support network that lasts beyond the programme.

Programmes are designed against your talent strategy, your OKRs and your cohort — whether the context is scaling, succession, retention pressure, or embedding culture change. They typically run over 9–12 months and include:

    • 1:1 coaching sessions for each participant, with a structured schedule agreed at the outset

    • Group coaching sessions for peer challenge, shared reflection and collective accountability

    • Optional skills workshops from a menu of five titles — sized to your needs, scoped to your context

    • Optional in-person launch and closing events to mark the programme and build the network

    • Pre/post evaluation against the metrics that matter to your business

Programmes are co-designed with you. Investment discussed at discovery — scope, cohort size and session structure all shape the proposal.

    Starting fom £1,400 per person

Cohort programmes are scoped to your context. Full investment confirmed following discovery conversation.

  • A facilitated group coaching programme for staff networks, peer leadership cohorts or OD-led groups. Different from team coaching (where the team itself is the client) — group coaching brings together individuals navigating similar challenges for structured peer learning, reflective practice and collective insight.

Particularly effective for staff networks, inclusion-focused groups, and cohort-based OD work where shared experience is a resource, not just a backdrop. Each programme includes a pre-scoping conversation, facilitated sessions and follow-up resources. All sessions CPD accredited.

    • Staff networks — Women’s Networks, IEN cohorts, BME staff groups.

    • Peer leadership groups — heads of department, senior managers across a directorate.

    • Cohort-based development embedded in wider L&D programmes.

From £3,000 for a programme of 4 sessionsdiscussed at discovery.

  • Team coaching for NHS senior leadership teams delivering change under pressure. The foundation is psychological safety — creating the conditions for honest conversation, genuine peer support and leadership that staff can feel.

Engagements begin with a diagnostic: pre-session survey, optional DiSC psychometric, and a scoping conversation. Sessions blend group coaching, skill development and individual reflection. Materials are bespoke; follow-up is built in.

    • Senior teams in significant change — restructure, system change, new leadership — so they hold the strain together.

    • Teams setting direction and shared ways of working — so accountability lives across the group.

    • Teams working through sustained pressure — high support meets high challenge.

    Half-day:  £1,750  |  Full day:  £3,000

    Additional services: DiSC psychometrics

. Multi-session programmes offers and arrangements available.

  • "Working with Emma has honestly been such a refreshing and worthwhile experience. Having that protected time to step away from the day-to-day and really talk through some of the professional challenges I was facing made such a difference. Emma is kind, easy to talk to, and our conversations just flowed. She really listened and asked the right questions, and then gave me practical ideas and strategies that I could use straight away in my work. What I have found most valuable is that the changes proposed by Emma are not just quick fixes — they feel like lasting shifts in the way I approach things. I have come away feeling more confident, more focused, and better equipped to handle challenges. I’m really grateful for Emma’s support and would absolutely recommend her to anyone who’s thinking about coaching. "

  • "Emma’s calm, compassionate, and practical support helped me feel seen, heard, and capable. She asked the right questions, helped me challenge my self-doubt, and reminded me to be kind to myself. What really stood out was how empowering the process felt — she never told me what to do, but guided me to find solutions that truly worked for me. Now that I’ve been back at work for a few months, I can honestly say the strategies we discussed have helped me re-enter the workplace with more confidence and clarity than I thought possible."

Group & Team Coaching Testimonials

  • Working with Emma has been a truly transformative experience for our team. Her ability to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment allowed us to explore challenges openly, strengthen our communication, and build deeper trust across a diverse leadership group. This has been incredible, particularly as we've also experienced quite a lot of change in the leadership team during the same period. Emma has been responsive to our changing needs and invested time to really understand how to get the best out of us as a group. Emma has brought a wealth of insight, empathy, and practical tools that helped us not only understand our team dynamics, within a volatile context, but also take meaningful steps toward greater collaboration and performance. Emma's coaching style is thoughtful, empowering and practical —always encouraging reflection while keeping us focused on actionable outcomes. As a team, we've seen a noticeable shift in how we work together, with really constructive, supportive relationships built on psychological safety. I would highly recommend Emma to any organisation looking for team OD and coaching.

She's got this knack for making things feel real and approachable, without any of the fluff. It clicked with me personally and has been the catalyst for reigniting my spark and drive. Emma's guidance sharpened our management and leadership skills. What stood out most was her thoughtful support for building resilience and wellbeing, equipping us with practical tools to navigate high-pressure days without burning out.
